The Mighty Duo (First Prismacolor Drawing)

                Back in December, my grandparents sent me my first ever 12-pack of Prismacolor pencils as a Christmas gift!  I was so surprised!  I have heard about Prismacolor pencils a few times from people since being here on DeviantART, along with Faber Castle.  Those fancy artist brand names always seem expensive, so I didn't really need them since what I had worked.  I was curious what they were like, but I've always been happy with using Crayola colored pencils for traditional art (they're pretty good for a general kids' school product!).  They did the job, and that's what I cared about.  But the Prismacolors were a REALLY cool gift!  I only saw a commercial for them for the first time a few months back after hearing about them so much over the years.  I'm still wondering how my grandparents knew to get me those when they had never been told that I was curious about trying some.   I never asked anyone for them.

                I finally got around to trying them by testing them out on this drawing.  I've never used Prismacolors before in my life, so it was cool trying them!  They work really well!  Like I was told, the white pencil DOES make a difference compared to Crayola.  I was never able to use white pencils before, haha.  They're smooth, so they blend really well, especially when using a blender or tissue.

                I felt in the mood to draw Mighty the Armadillo, because he's cool, so I drew him with Ray as my test subjects.  I've drawn Mighty a few times, but it was my first drawing Ray, so I hope he looks okay.  I made it a point to color this drawing using only Prismacolor pencils, since it was my first drawing using them.  Some of the colors on Mighty and Ray might be a little off; with only 12 Prismacolors to work from, I had to improvise with a LOT of color-blending to get things to look right.  But it was fun, and they worked.   I want to do more traditional art now.
